About the Choir

The Manchester Bach Choir was founded by its first conductor, Mr Hamilton Harris, in 1932. He was a well known bass singer in his day and the choir was originally composed entirely of his own pupils.

Over the past 75 years the choir has had several relocations in and around the Manchester area. We rehearse at St Andrew’s Church in Stockport and perform most of our concerts at Emmanuel Church in Didsbury or at Didsbury Baptist Church.

The choir currently numbers around thirty singers and performs a wide variety of music though mainly classical in nature. We aim for a high standard and have a friendly but hardworking atmosphere. We usually perform three seasonal concerts with a varied programme throughout the year.
